Our verdict
Dreame's C1 is the more thorough of the two machines here and the quieter one, and it is built for a bigger pane: 2.5 by 4 m against the N1's 2 by 3. It plans a Z or N route at 14 cm/s, picks up where it left off after an interruption, comes back to where you put it on, and its corner brushes and elastic bumpers are the only real answer to the corners a square cloth misses. The sustained vacuum is a modest 3,300 Pa, peaking at 5,500 with compensation, and the tether is rated to 140 kg. What Dreame does not say matters too: nothing about holding on after a power cut, nothing about a fault self-check, no warranty term on the page. At €399 it is twice the N1's price, and the €549 Station kit adds a battery for 180 minutes off the mains.
