Who controls your data

The short version

There are no accounts, nothing is sold here, and we never ask you for personal information. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell data.

We store one technical cookie holding the machines you have added to a comparison. We run no analytics or advertising tools. Clicks on retailer links are counted in aggregate, never attached to a person.

What we process

In practice, three things:

• A comparison cookie (rv_compare) holding up to three machines you have added to a comparison, so the list survives a reload. Valid for 30 days. It contains no personal data.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, time, page, browser type), used solely to keep the site available and secure.
• The Robot Finder tour's progress. When you start the tour yourself (the /demo address), the page keeps the step you are on in this browser tab's storage (sessionStorage, entry rv-finder-tour). It is never sent to us and is gone when you skip or finish the tour or close the tab.

Commercial clicks

We record which product and retailer a commercial click concerned, and which page it came from, so we can tell which content actually helps readers.

No personal data is attached to those events: no IP address, no name, no advertising identifier.

Each click also carries a random code that the page draws at its first click, so that two clicks in one visit are not counted as two different people. On your device it exists only in the open page's memory: it is never written to a cookie or to your browser's storage, and it is gone when the page is closed or reloaded. We store it with the click and never link it to you.

The retailers and affiliate networks we link to set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. Once you land on their site, their rules apply, not ours.

Product pages can show video reviews from YouTube. Until you press play, only a thumbnail from YouTube's image servers is loaded and no Google cookie is set; pressing play loads YouTube's player in its privacy-enhanced mode, and from then on Google's privacy policy applies.

Legal bases

The comparison cookie and server logs are processed under our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The comparison cookie and the tour entry are strictly necessary for features you ask for (the comparison, the tour), so they need no consent (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive). We use no cookies or tracking technologies that would require consent.

Who receives data

We use processors acting on our behalf: our hosting provider and our database provider.

Some are established outside the European Economic Area, principally in the United States. Those transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or on an adequacy decision.

We do not sell data and do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks.

How long we keep it

Comparison cookie: 30 days. Tour entry: until the tab is closed. Server logs: per our host's policy, typically 30 days.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to data portability.

You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Poland, the Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (https://uodo.gov.pl).
