Editorial policy and data sources
The rules every page on RoboVerdict follows: where figures may come from, what a review is and is not, when a product is left out, and how mistakes are fixed.
Sources
A specification may come only from the manufacturer: its product page, datasheet, manual or press material. Retailer listings, forum posts and other publications' tests are not sources, however plausible. Each product page names its sources and the date they were read.
Prices come from the manufacturers' own shops and, where a manufacturer runs one, its product feed, read every day. They are list prices on the day shown, not a promise about tomorrow. Amazon prices are not shown; where a machine is listed on Amazon, the link says so and the price appears there.
Product photographs come from manufacturers' feeds and press kits. Nothing is scraped, cropped from a third party or generated. A machine without a licensed photograph stays unpublished until one exists.
What a review is here
A review on RoboVerdict is an analysis of published specifications, scored by a fixed method and written up with its gaps named. It is not a hands-on test, and the pages say so. When the site does test a machine, the page will say that instead, with the method.
A machine whose manufacturer publishes no suction figure, no navigation type or the equivalent core facts for its category is not scored and not ranked, because the method has nothing to work on.
Other people's tests appear on product pages as video reviews from YouTube, chosen automatically by title and views, labelled as such and kept out of the score.
How the text is written
The prose on product pages is drafted by software from the structured data, including language models, so that every sentence rests on a figure in the table below it. The editor reads each text before publication, corrects it and is responsible for it. Rankings' introductions and blog articles are edited the same way.
No manufacturer, retailer or affiliate network sees or approves a text before it goes live, and none can buy a placement, a score or a wording.
Independence
The Verdict Score is computed from specifications by weights published on the How we score page. A commission rate is not an input. The button that leads to the shop that pays is shown first where one exists, and the score does not move for it.
Corrections
A reported error is checked against the manufacturer's source. If confirmed, the figure is corrected in the data and the score recomputed, which updates every page that used it. Reports go to kontakt@roboverdict.com.
