Narwal Freo S review
Narwal's cheapest robot: 8,000 Pa, a pressed mop pad at 8 N with no washing dock, LiDAR mapping and structured light with no camera, 20 mm thresholds and a 3.5 l bag good for 180 days.

Our verdict
The Freo S is where Narwal's range starts, and it is a different kind of machine from the rest of it: no washing dock, no roller, just a pressed pad at 8 N under a 2-in-1 bin and tank, with the dock doing one job, emptying into a 3.5-litre bag Narwal rates for 180 days. Suction is 8,000 Pa in four modes, the roller brush is sold as a zero-tangling part in Narwal's own accessory listing, an LDS LiDAR maps several floors and 3D structured light handles obstacles without a camera, so it qualifies for the camera-free list. It climbs 20 mm, takes Alexa and Google Home commands, and Narwal prints what the dearer models hide: 33 × 33 × 10 cm, 3.2 kg, a 3200 mAh battery and noise under 62 dB(A) vacuuming or 60 dB(A) mopping. Missing are a runtime, charging time, bin or tank size, mop lift and warranty term, and the pad has to be rinsed by hand. For a flat with hard floors and a light budget it does the basics; anyone who wants the mop looked after should look up the range.
Pros
- LiDAR mapping of several floors and structured-light obstacle sensing, no camera
- Emptying dock with a 3.5 l bag rated for 180 days
- 8,000 Pa in four modes with a zero-tangling roller brush
- Size, weight, battery and 20 mm threshold all published, which Narwal rarely does
- Alexa and Google Home voice control, noise under 62 dB(A)
Cons
- The pad is pressed, not washed, dried or lifted; it is rinsed by hand
- No runtime, charging time, bin or tank capacity or warranty term
- No carpet detection or suction boost claimed
- Noise given only as upper bounds
Best for
- Small flats with hard floors and a tight budget
- Anyone who wants a camera-free robot with a bag dock and little else
Not recommended for
- Homes that want the dock to wash the mop
- Carpets and rugs, since the pad never lifts

In detail
Suction and brushes
The manufacturer rates the suction at 8,000 Pa. That is less than most of the 90 robot vacuums we list. The main brush is the tangle-resistant type, with one side brush.
Mopping
Mop system: static pad. The mop does not lift for carpet.
Navigation and obstacles
It navigates by LiDAR and avoids obstacles with structured light. It climbs thresholds up to 20 mm. That is less than most of the 54 robot vacuums with a published figure. No-go zones can be drawn in the app.
The dock
The dock empties the bin. The dust bag lasts about 180 days.
Battery, charging and noise
The manufacturer publishes neither a runtime nor a noise figure.

Where to buy
Prices are read every night from the manufacturers' shops that list the machine, and shown as read. A price no read has confirmed for several days is marked with the day it was last seen. Where a week or more of readings exists, the lowest we recorded in the last 30 days is stated as well. RoboVerdict may earn a commission when you buy through links on our site.
