Dreame X40 Ultra review

The X40 on its tank dock: 12,000 Pa, a side brush and pads that both extend, pads that lift 10.5 mm and detach, an RGB camera, a 70 °C wash and 208 minutes a charge, but no size or weight.

Our verdict

The X40 Ultra is the generation before the X50, still sold new in Poland, and on paper it reaches further than its 12,000 Pa suggests. The side brush extends and lifts 10 mm; the pads swing out on RoboSwing, lift 10.5 mm and come off for carpet. An RGB camera with structured light recognises 120 object types and pets, and the dock washes at up to 70 °C, sends the pads back for a second wash when its multispectral sensor sees dirt, dries with hot air, refills water and solution and empties into a 3.2 l bag for 75 days. 6,400 mAh give 208 minutes and 194 m² of quiet mixed cleaning. The gaps: no Dreame page prints its size, weight, warranty, noise or charging time, sills stop at 22 mm, and the brush is plain rubber, with the TriCut anti-tangle brush sold separately. The Complete version adds only spare parts.

Pros

  • The side brush extends and lifts; the pads extend, lift 10.5 mm and detach
  • RGB camera with structured light, 120 object types and pet recognition
  • The dock washes at up to 70 °C, re-mops on its dirt sensor, dries and refills water and solution
  • 6,400 mAh for 208 minutes and 194 m²

Cons

  • No size, weight, warranty, noise or charging time on any Dreame page
  • 12,000 Pa and a plain rubber brush; the TriCut brush is sold separately
  • 22 mm sills and no legs
  • A bag lasts 75 days

Best for

  • Flats with hard floors and low sills
  • Buyers who want camera recognition and a washing dock more than suction

Not recommended for

  • Anyone who needs the robot's height to check that it fits under furniture
  • Homes with thresholds over 22 mm

In detail

Suction and brushes

The manufacturer rates the suction at 12,000 Pa. That is less than most of the 105 robot vacuums we list. The main brush is the rubber type, with one side brush. On carpet the suction rises automatically. The onboard bin holds 300 ml.

Mopping

Mop system: twin spinning pads. For carpet runs it leaves the mop at the dock. The mop swings out to reach along walls. The onboard water tank holds 80 ml.

Navigation and obstacles

It navigates by LiDAR and avoids obstacles with camera + depth sensor. It climbs thresholds up to 22 mm. That is less than most of the 65 robot vacuums with a published figure. No-go zones can be drawn in the app. It recognises pet waste and steers round it.

The dock

The dock empties the bin, washes and dries the mop and refills the water tank. The dust bag lasts about 75 days.

Battery, charging and noise

One charge runs up to 3 h 28 min. The manufacturer publishes no noise figure.
