Dreame X40 Master review

The X40 with a plumbed dock: 12,000 Pa, a swinging pad, a 70 °C wash, 100 days of dust and a station that refills and drains itself from the mains, all on a 22 mm threshold.

Our verdict

The X40 Master is an X40 sold for the dock: the station connects to the water supply with the kit in the box and never needs its tanks carried, washes the pads at 70 °C in four steps, dries them with hot air, doses detergent and empties the robot into a 4.2 litre bag for 100 days. The robot under it is the 2024 X40: 12,000 Pa through a rubber roller, a pad that swings 4 cm under furniture and lifts 10 mm over rugs, a side brush that extends and lifts, and a 6,400 mAh battery good for 198 minutes at the quiet setting. It sees with an RGB camera that recognises more than 80 object types; the page names no depth sensor beside it, and the 22 mm threshold is a 2024 figure in a year of 4 cm legs. Dreame's Polish shop had sold out of it when we read the page, while Allegro sellers still carried it. Buy it for a kitchen or utility room with a water point and a 1 m² floor spot for the dock; skip it for high sills and cable-strewn floors.

Pros

  • Plumbed dock: refills and drains itself, kit included
  • 70 °C wash with four levels, hot-air drying, detergent dosing
  • Pad swings 4 cm, side brush extends and lifts 10 mm
  • 198 minutes and 308 m² of mopping on a charge

Cons

  • 12,000 Pa and a 22 mm threshold, both 2024 figures
  • Camera only: no depth sensor named beside the RGB camera
  • The dock needs a water point and its own installation
  • No noise, charging time or map count published

Best for

  • A home with a water connection where the dock can live
  • Anyone who never wants to carry a water tank again

Not recommended for

  • Flats with sills above 2 cm
  • Floors with cables and small clutter, where a depth sensor earns its keep

How we score

In detail

Suction and brushes

The manufacturer rates the suction at 12,000 Pa. That is less than most of the 83 robot vacuums we list. The main brush is the rubber type, with one side brush. The onboard bin holds 300 ml.

Mopping

Mop system: twin spinning pads. It lifts the mop 10 mm over carpet. The mop swings out to reach along walls.

Navigation and obstacles

It navigates by LiDAR and avoids obstacles with single-camera AI. It climbs thresholds up to 22 mm. That is less than most of the 48 robot vacuums with a published figure. No-go zones can be drawn in the app.

The dock

The dock empties the bin, washes and dries the mop, refills the water tank and can be plumbed in. The dust bag lasts about 100 days.

Battery, charging and noise

One charge runs up to 3 h 18 min. The manufacturer publishes no noise figure.
