Our verdict

The L40 Ultra Gen 2 is what the L40 Ultra should have been at this price: 25,000 Pa where the first had 11,000, the TriCut hair-cutting brush and the detergent dispenser in the box, and the same dock that empties into a 3.2 l bag for 100 days, scrubs the mops on a 20-nozzle DryBoard, dries them with hot air and refills the water. The mops are the DuoScrub pair that spin under pressure, swing out 4 cm to reach edges and under furniture, take 32 moisture levels and lift 10.5 mm for carpet, where the app can boost suction, clean twice or avoid rugs altogether. It maps up to four floors by LiDAR and dodges obstacles with 3D structured light, which does not recognise objects, and it crosses 2 cm thresholds. The 5,200 mAh battery is rated for 231 quiet minutes, Matter is promised by update, and the three-year warranty is Dreame's standard. Dreame does not print the robot's dimensions or noise, and the 4.01 kg robot has no camera. At $569.99, down from $799.99, it is the best-value full-dock Dreame in this catalogue for a home without much clutter.
