Our verdict
The Q10 S5 is the dockless counterpart of the Q10 S5+: it comes with a plain 160 × 70 × 101 mm charging dock instead of the RockDock Plus, so the bin is emptied by hand. What it keeps is the reason to choose it over the Q10 X5, a VibraRise 2.0 pad that vibrates against the floor and lifts itself on carpet. Suction is 10,000 Pa with a boost on rugs, the main brush has the JawScrapers comb and the side brush is anti-tangle too, Reactive Tech structured light handles obstacles, and PreciSense LiDAR keeps maps for up to four floors. The British page rates the 5,200 mAh battery for up to three hours, longer than the 150 minutes quoted for the S5+ and the X5, and gives the robot 4.78 kg and a two-year warranty. Roborock states no bin, tank, noise, lift height or threshold, and a DEEP+ slow-mopping mode is still to arrive by update.
Pros
- Vibrating VibraRise 2.0 pad that lifts on carpet
- Structured-light obstacle sensor and LiDAR with four floor maps
- Up to three hours on a 5,200 mAh battery

Best for
- Small flats with hard floors and a rug or two
- A second robot for another floor that can do without a dust bag
Not recommended for
- Owners who do not want to empty a bin by hand

In detail
Suction and brushes
The manufacturer rates the suction at 10,000 Pa. That is less than most of the 105 robot vacuums we list. The main brush is the tangle-resistant type, with one side brush. On carpet the suction rises automatically.
Mopping
Mop system: vibrating pad. It lifts the mop over carpet.
Navigation and obstacles
It navigates by LiDAR and avoids obstacles with structured light. It stores 4 floor plans. No-go zones can be drawn in the app.
The dock
There is no self-emptying dock: the bin is emptied by hand.
Battery, charging and noise
One charge runs up to 3 h. The manufacturer publishes no noise figure.

Where to buy
Prices are read every night from the manufacturers' shops that list the machine, and shown as read. A price no read has confirmed for several days is marked with the day it was last seen. Where a week or more of readings exists, the lowest we recorded in the last 30 days is stated as well. RoboVerdict may earn a commission when you buy through links on our site.
