Our verdict
The L40s Pro Ultra is the L40 line with the dock and the sensors of a dearer machine and a conventional 103.5 mm body. It vacuums at 19,000 Pa through the two-roller HyperStream brush, lifts the main brush, the side brush and the pads independently, extends the side brush and the pads 4 cm to reach edges, and leaves the pads in the dock when a carpet is on the plan. Its front end is an RGB camera backed by 3D structured light with two lasers, and it recognises bowls, litter boxes, people and pets. The dock washes at 75 °C through 20 nozzles, dries with hot air, doses detergent, refills from 4.5 litre tanks and empties for 100 days; the plumbing kit is sold separately. Four maps, a built-in voice command set, and 195 minutes of quiet vacuuming from 5,200 mAh round it out. The threshold is the usual 22 mm for one step, 40 mm only across two. Dreame's Polish shop had sold out of it on the day we read the page. Against the L50 Pro Ultra it gives up the retracting turret and 500 Pa for a little less money; the turret is the thing to decide on.

In detail
Suction and brushes
The manufacturer rates the suction at 19,000 Pa. That is less than most of the 83 robot vacuums we list. The main brush is the tangle-resistant type, with one side brush. The onboard bin holds 310 ml.
Mopping
Mop system: twin spinning pads. For carpet runs it leaves the mop at the dock. The mop swings out to reach along walls.
Navigation and obstacles
It navigates by LiDAR and avoids obstacles with camera + depth sensor. It stores 4 floor plans. It climbs thresholds up to 22 mm. That is less than most of the 48 robot vacuums with a published figure. No-go zones can be drawn in the app. It recognises pet waste and steers round it.
The dock
The dock empties the bin, washes and dries the mop and refills the water tank. The dust bag lasts about 100 days.
Battery, charging and noise
One charge runs up to 3 h 15 min. The manufacturer publishes no noise figure.
