Our verdict
The LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 is the LUBA mini 2 with the 1000's biggest limitation removed. The 1000 positions by network RTK and three cameras, so it still wants open sky; the 1500 carries a 360° LiDAR with a 60 m range and two cameras and uses no satellites at all, so it can hold its position under trees and along 68 cm paths where a satellite mower loses its fix. The rest is kept: independent motors on all four wheels, an 80% slope rating, a 120 mm edge disc that cuts to about 5 cm from a wall, rain detection, 20 zones, 4G for three years and a three-year warranty. The LiDAR costs 2.2 kg over the 1000, the main deck is the same 200 mm, so 1,500 m² means several sessions at 500 m² a charge, and there is no satellite fix to fall back on if the LiDAR's view is blocked.

The manufacturer rates it for lawns up to 1,500 m². That is about the middle of the field. It climbs slopes up to 80% (39°). That is more than 71% of the 52 robot mowers we list. It can manage up to 20 zones. The narrowest passage it takes is 68 cm wide. All of its wheels are driven.
Navigation
